Thames Valley Property Awards
& Gala Dinner

12th May, 2016

About the Thames Valley Property Awards

The Thames Valley is the UK’s third largest property region by activity and value after London’s West End and City of London. Historically acting as a release valve as London’s property market expanded and contracted, over the past decade the Thames Valley has emerged as a European location in own right. The Thames Valley Property Awards will celebrate this diversity and recognise the particular characteristics of this special region.

Nominations for 2016 will open on December 6th, but you can book your seats now for the gala dinner on Thursday May 12th 2016, due to be held at Ascot Racecourse. Applications for tickets and further information requests should be directed to Libby Sharp or visit the TVPA website.

Business Park of the Year – Sponsored by Peter Brett Associates

The Thames Valley has been synonymous with the creation and management of business parks as a location of choice for businesses across the region. This Award celebrates the ability of the developer, owner or management team to market the business park by new initiatives, maintain high occupancy levels, and consistently receive positive feedback from tenants. Judges will be looking for a clear demonstration of the ability of the business park to fulfil the criteria listed above.

Workplace Environment

Exciting workplaces and successful businesses go to together. The region is home to many companies across the digital, telecoms, pharmaceutical, professional and financial sectors. Open to any company from any business sector, this award seeks to reward those companies that have used their property strategy to create quality design-led working styles, increased productivity, innovative working environments and open, inclusive work cultures. Judges will want to see how the design of the workplace was approached and how it has created genuine productivity gains for the business. Entries can be made by the occupier, or by one of the advisory or design team with comment from the client.

Industrial & Logistics Property Consultancy of the Year

Working with EGi, part of Estates Gazette group, this Award uses objective information gathered from their extensive industry-leading database on deals within the Thames Valley region by postcode. The award will be given to the Property Consultancy that has completed the most industrial/logistics deals across the region during the 12-month period from January to December 2015.

Commercial Property Consultancy of the Year (firm)-Sponsored by SEGRO

This award draws from EGi data and is based on deal volumes and values.

After London, the Thames Valley is the next largest property market in the UK by volume of deals and density. Working with EGi, this Award will use objective information gathered from its extensive industry-leading database on deals within the Thames Valley region. The award will be given to the consultancy that has completed the highest total of commercial deals in the office sector across the region during the 12-month period from January to December 2015.

Commercial Property Consultancy-Client Service Award

This award is open to all property consultancies and celebrates the ability of the consultancy to take a client’s brief and ensure it is correctly managed and serviced. Entries must be supported by clear evidence of success, including testimonials from clients and other advisers involved with the deal, project or brief in question.

Town of the Year-Sponsored by Barton Willmore

Judges are looking for a Thames Valley town (or city) and its management team (and advisers) that has implemented a successful town-centre strategy and has enhanced the town’s brand. This could be by improving transportation links, implementing a regeneration plan that has created opportunities for economic growth, or a major new property investment that has changed the course of the Town. The judges are aware that the region is the sum of its parts and therefore evidence of cross Borough and County collaboration is also an important measure of success. Entrants need to show that that they have adopted a clear strategy for improvement that has enhanced the Town over a period of time.

House Builder of the Year-Sponsored by Pitmans

Successful housebuilding in the Thames Valley has to be aware of environmental issues, and a need for community engagement. It has to have real economic benefit, respecting the Thames Valley environment and showing how good design can create places where people want to live, both young and old. The judges are looking for a Thames Valley housebuilder that incorporates these aspects into its completed schemes and consistently receives positive feedback from its customers.

Corporate Real Estate Executive or Team-Sponsored by Jelf Insurance Brokers

This award focuses on the role of the real-estate executive or team – either in-house or outsourced, and in the private or public sectors. Nominations should demonstrate the implementation of best practice and show how a decisive property strategy can affect main board decisions and ultimately improve productivity. Judges would like to see nominations from property consultants and suppliers who work with real-estate executives and can reflect the criteria requested above.

Development of the Year-Sponsored by Hicks Baker

Celebration of a Thames Valley project (office, mixed-use, residential or industrial) that has been recently completed, has funding or has just received planning consent. Judges will be looking at the funders’/developer’s ability to create an exciting new development, which matches industry standards and will be seen as a real addition to the Thames Valley.

Commercial Property Deal of the Year-Sponsored by Haslams

Romans Group, the sponsor of this category, is itself a fast-growing and award-winning property business. Romans first opened for business in 1987, and has adapted and developed in response to its customers’ needs to become one of the most accomplished property groups in the UK.  As a leading light in the Thames Valley property sector, Romans wants to reward a successful property business that has also shined in the region in the past few years. Eligible firms include developers, agents, consultants, surveyors, lettings specialists, etc.

Property Law Firm-Sponsored by Vail Williams

Judges are looking for a law firm whose property team has had an exceptional year, either in terms of volume of work, quality of instructions, or both. Particular attention will be given to law firms that have instructed on complex deals during the year, or that have excelled in advisory work.  Eligible law firms can have acted in the commercial property or residential property markets; and can have been instructed by developers, agents, occupiers, and/or investors. In reviewing submissions from law firms, judges will also pay attention to testimonials from clients.

Best Regeneration Project-Sponsored by Nat West

This new award recognises the innovative use of brownfield sites as well as strong architectural design and the developer’s approach to environmental issues.

Judges will consider how the particular area has been revitalised for this who live and/or work there, and the investment and/or ROI of the project.

Small schemes will be considered, as will large-scale town or city regeneration projects.

Charity & Partners

Sports Partner

From our Reading base at the Madejski Stadium, London Irish is keen to be associated with the Thames Valley Property Awards as we see ourselves as being at the heart of the Thames Valley sporting scene. Many property professionals attend and support the team on a regular basis and we are keen to build on this association throughout the 2013/2014 Premiership season. We have donated some prizes for the winners and hope that this will be the start of long-term association with the Thames Valley Awards for London Irish.

Research Partner

Egi Data and its sister publication Estates Gazette are pleased to be associated as the Research Partner for this first Thames Valley Property Awards. Using the extensive database collected over many years as the most popular property journal in the UK, EGi Data is in a unique position to provide statistical evidence for the Awards to ensure that nominations are correct and reflect the real activity in the Thames Valley region. We hope that it is successful, as we are keen to support this regional event and the many property companies, which use and support EGi/Estates Gazette in the Thames Valley.

Charity Partner

The dinner will raise funds for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, which will be TVPA’s official charity.

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service now funds Alexander’s Nurses who support families across Berkshire in their own homes, providing much needed respite, palliative care, emotional and practical support. We are working towards building Berkshire’s very own children’s hospice for these local families, which will be supported by a home, care team.

Our ethos is that the child is central to everything that we do. We work in partnership with families and local hospitals so that we can provide ‘joined-up’ support that really benefits each and every family. We always listen and learn so that we can deliver a flexible service, which meets their changing needs.

Parents who understand what these families are experiencing founded our charity. We feel privileged to be supporting these exceptional children and their families.

Background to the Awards

The Partners
