Bewley Homes is planning a mixed-use scheme with up to 270 homes at Wash Common.

The housebuilder has applied to Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council to develop 22.45 hectares of agricultural land at Common Farm on the outskirts of Newbury for the scheme, which will include homes for older people, a 1,600 sq m community building, a 1,200 sq m health centre, a 250 sq m convenience store.

The development, to be known as Watermill Bridge, will mean demolition of farm buildings and the provision of open space to include community gardens allotments, a riverside park/nature trail and landscaping. There will also be new access from the A343 Andover Road.

The team includes RPS on planning and fabrik on architecture.
