The radical new look proposed for the former home of Eli Lilly in Windlesham has been approved by councillors.
Surrey Heath Borough Council’s planning applications committee voted through the new look proposed by Belgian pharmaceutical company UCB, at its January 20 meeting.
Under the scheme, the former Biology East wing at the centre of the 19-hectare campus will be demolished and, following site excavation, replaced with a three-story, timber Collaboration Hub which will have an additional lower ground floor.
There will be a new terrace at the south west gable end of the Manor House facing new sculpted and landscaped areas.
Various external alterations are included and an existing tennis court will be replaced with a ‘pollinator garden’. Some reconfiguration of internal access roads and parking is also involved.
UCB hopes to move from its current three sites in Slough once the work is completed at the end of 2023. The site will be one of UCB’s three global research and design hubs.
