Plans for the 150-home third and final phase of Newbury Farm have been approved.
Homes on the scheme, put forward by Cambridge Investment Partnership (CIP), a joint venture between Cambridge City Council and The Hill Group, range from one-bedroom flats to five-bedroom houses.
It will include 60 affordable homes which includes all the apartments and three of the three-bedroom houses.
Cllr Gerri Bird, executive councillor for housing at Cambridge City Council, and CIP board member, said: “Through our innovative Cambridge Investment Partnership, we are building more council homes per capita than almost all other councils in the country, as well as market homes which are also desperately needed.
“Being granted planning permission to develop this final phase at Newbury Farm is another great example of the progress we are making to address the city’s housing affordability crisis.
“The affordable homes included within the scheme will make a significant contribution to our affordable housing programme, whilst the private sale homes will generate funds which will be used to help us to continue to deliver new council homes across the city.”
A breakdown of the homes shows 35 one-bedroom, 19 two-bedroom, and three three-bedroom flats across three blocks. It will also offer 18 two-bedroom, 48 three-bedroom, 21 four-bedroom, and six five-bedroom houses.
Tom Hill, managing director of The Hill Group said: “As a partnership, we are committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable new homes that meet Cambridge’s growing housing needs.
“We are pleased to be bringing forward this mixed tenure development which will include vibrant community spaces and essential commercial facilities, fostering a sense of place and connectivity for residents.”
Architect for the scheme is BPTW.
