Plans to develop a former brewery for 102 homes have been approved by Wiltshire Council.

Planning and listed building consents were unanimously granted by the planning committee for the scheme of private and affordable homes at the former Wadworth Brewery in Devizes, by developer Backhouse.

The scheme will be known as Brewery Wharf.

David Anderson, practice principal for Newbury-based architect of the scheme Anderson + Prescott, said: “We are delighted our expertise, problem-solving skills and commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable development was recognised by Wiltshire Council. This will be a great step forward for Devizes, and we’re excited to bring this project to life, creating lasting benefits for the local community.

“Our belief that good design and meaningful stakeholder engagement de risks the planning process has clearly been instrumental in bringing about this result, our second in a few months in Wiltshire after the recent approval of 262 dwellings at Newburn Sidings Swindon.”
