Two consultations have been put on for locals on the latest proposals for 130 council homes on the Ekin Road estate in Cambridge.

Cambridge City Council has arranged a drop-in on Tuesday, October 1 at Barnwell Baptist Church, Howard Road between 3pm-6pm, along with an online event from 1pm-2pm the following day.

Cambridge Investment Partnership plans to submit a planning application next year.

The project team will be on hand and activities are planned. The mixed-tenure homes, including highly-sustainable properties and are part of the council’s wider programme of work across Cambridge to:

  • Improve accommodation standards for people living in existing council homes
  • Build additional council homes to meet local need
  • Address wider housing supply issues, including building more much-needed larger family homes

Cllr Gerri Bird, executive councillor for housing, said: “I look forward to the two public events on 1-2 October when people can learn more about the very latest proposals for Ekin Road, which have been put together and refined following extensive feedback from local residents.

“We know that residents may have a number of questions about the details of the redevelopment scheme when they have had a chance to see them – so I’d encourage them to take a look at the proposals, and come along to discuss them with members of the team.”
