An application to replace offices with industrial units in Reading has sailed through the planning process.
Councillors at Reading Borough Council’s planning applications committee’s October 2 meeting unanimously approved Logicor Park, a proposal by Logicor division Redwood (Light Industrial) Propco Sarl UK.
It involves demolition of 35,000 sq ft of vacant 1980s offices and the development of 30,000 sq ft of industrial units comprising eight units and 33 parking spaces.
Units will range in size from 2,850 sq ft to 6,670 sq ft. Use classes will be B2 (general industrial) and B8 (storage and distribution).
Cllr Ellie Emberson, while unable to attend, passed on the message to the meeting that her and her two Coley Ward members supported the proposal.
The building, formerly used by Thames Water, already has Permitted Development Rights to convert to either 34 or 38 flats and nearby Cadogan House has already been converted to 24 flats and is partially occupied.
A previous application by Industrials REIT for 11 units in two industrial buildings was withdrawn when the site was acquired by Logicor in 2022.
