David Berry is the new sales and marketing manager at the Holiday Inn Reading-South.

David has worked in the hospitality industry for 25 years, mainly around the Thames Valley area including hotels, racecourses and business centres, is seeking to increase use of the large function room – the Grenadier Suite – in particular to charities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations.

David has also created a local membership card for the hotel and is encouraging homeworkers to use the ground floor lounge area as co-working space.

Through the RG2 membership scheme, lounge day passes for £12 a day offer parking, wi-fi and unlimited teas and coffees for those wishing to work from the hotel. It is aimed at local SMEs, charities and local voluntary groups.

As well as 202 bedrooms and the Grenadier Suite function room, the hotel has several meeting rooms, a lounge bar area, large restaurant including a private dining area and more than 220 parking spaces onsite.

David said: “This is a real hidden gem. It is a great location for business or pleasure and being so close to J11 of the M4. We can accommodate180 people in our largest function room which can have its own bar/break out area too.

“One thing I want to do is to show the local community that we are here to help and support and what a great place this is to do work from.

“We have a variety of workspaces and a really welcoming atmosphere – and of course plenty of food and drink options if you wanted to meet contacts here.”
