A deal has been secured that could lead to a new stadium for Wealdstone FC in the Hillingdon borough.

Hillingdon Borough Council’s cabinet approved the signing of an agreement in principle which will give the National League club a three-year exclusivity period to investigate development of two sites for a stadium and training facilities.

Following the approval at the cabinet’s March 13 meeting, the club, which currently plays at Grosvenor Vale in Ruislip (pictured above), will explore land next to the former Master Brewer site in Western Avenue and another plot known as Gutteridge Farm.

The three-year period is designed to allow the club to develop proposals, secure funding, find a development partner and obtain the necessary planning consents.

The council will receive a small annual fee for the land throughout the exclusivity agreement.

Feasibility studies have already been carried out on the sites after the council committed to no other development projects on the land in November 2023.

Cllr Jonathan Bianco, Hillingdon Council’s cabinet member for corporate services and property, said: “We’re proud to support our local sports clubs, and this agreement will allow the club to explore opportunities to bring these vacant spaces back into use.

“A new stadium and the associated facilities could provide many benefits to the borough, and I look forward to seeing the proposals as they take shape.”

Dominic Whyley, acting chairman of Wealdstone FC, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been granted this exclusivity agreement to facilitate the club’s need to find a new, permanent home which is vital to securing its future and all its ancillary community activities.

“We wish to place on record our immense appreciation of the support and encouragement given to the club by Hillingdon Council throughout this process.”
