Demolition work ahead of a major regeneration project in Guildford town centre starts on Monday (February 3).
St Edwards’ North Street Regeneration includes:
- 477 sustainable, new homes, including 47 affordable units
- 2 acres of new including a wellness garden and a new town square
- A refurbished bus station
- The pedestrianisation of North Street
- Planting of 115 new trees
- A new medical centre
Enabling works have already begun with closures, diversions and hording around the site.
Now the former post office building along with others on North Street and Woolbridge Road will be the first demolitions.
Construction work on the bus station is due to begin in Winter 2025 with completion during Summer 2026.
North Street pedestrianisation work is programmed to begin in Autumn 2026 with completion in Spring 2027.
Surrey County Council has devised a roadworks map to help people keep abreast of the highway changes taking place during the work.
