Plans for a high-rise scheme of co-living apartments in Reading town centre go on show on Wednesday (September 18).

Developer Elder is planning to redevelop Greyfriars House, an office building at 30 Greyfriars Road, where Reading Probation Service has operated for many years (see Google image below), for the 13-storey block and is putting on an exhibition at the Broad Street Mall.

The proposals for the apartments in which some areas such as kitchens are shared, will be a similar height to the flats at Station Hill. It will be the town’s first bespoke application for co-living.

In its promotion sent to Thames Tap, the developer states: “The wider locality is undergoing a successful transformation and these proposals seek to complement the emerging new residential area with a co-living scheme that will provide wider residential choice and a more affordable product fit for 21st century needs.”

The exhibition will be held at a Broad Street Mall unit near TK Maxx and the lifts, from 3.30pm to 7.30pm. At the same time the exhibition starts, a dedicated website for the scheme which will go live at www.greyfriarsreading.co.uk.
