At a recent University of West London (UWL) Alumni event held in Westminster, the Vice Chancellor Professor Peter John CBE, proudly spoke of the progress the University has made since the days of the Acton Catering College.

The University has a global presence, and its main campuses are firmly located in Ealing and Brentford. The University has a strong relationship with Brentford Football Club.

During 2022 the University expanded its footprint in Ealing with the purchase of the former Penguin Random House offices on the Uxbridge Road which were on sale for circa £3m. The refurbished building known as Century House is already in use as Institute for Policing Studies.

Cavendish House has been refurbished and is in use for PHD research students.

In August 2021 UWL acquired Ruskin College Oxford saving from demise and helping it return to its previous status in Oxford.

The University of West London has achieved the following accolades:

  • Top 100 Universities for research quality
  • First for student experience (National Student Survey 2022)
  • University of the Year for student experience and teaching quality (Times )
  • Guardian University ranking upper quartile

As Sir Vince Cable once said, “Our universities have never been better funded.” With a strong business plan and success under it belt the University will continue to look for opportunities to invest and improve the student experience in West London.
