East Suffolk Planning Committee has given a resolution to grant planning permission to a 21-home development on the edge of Halesworth in East Suffolk.

The site, owned by Lanpro, is located outside of the defined settlement boundary, however, the committee recognised the benefits which would come from the development, which would outweigh the impacts.

The benefits include helping the council meet its housing targets, the provision of affordable homes, the financial contributions towards off-site affordable housing, highway improvements and increased transport for school pupils.

The proposed development is comprised of a mix of two, three and four-bed properties, with car parking and open public space, with a 30% allocation for affordable housing, significantly higher than the currently required 20% by the council.

Full planning permission has not yet been granted.
