Plans for up to 213 homes in two applications have been refused by Cherwell District Council.

The council’s planning committee’s August 1 meeting considered plans for 114 homes and up to 99 homes in applications by Manor Oak Homes and Richborough Homes respectively.

Manor Oak Homes’ outline application (pictured), which includes 30 per cent affordable homes, was planned for 8.6 hectares of agricultural land north of Dukes Meadow Drive in Banbury, which already has permission for 78 homes.

And, in the following agenda item, Richborough’s plans for up to 99 homes on a seven-hectare site, known as South Lodge at Caversfield, accessed from both Fringford Road and Aunt Ems Lane, followed the officers’ recommendation for refusal, which was largely based on the loss of the gap between Caversfield and Bicester.

The scheme would involve demolition of an existing farmhouse and equine buildings and would also mean the loss of some of the most versatile agricultural land.
