McKay Securities has applied for prior approval to turn its Reading head offices into flats – but the firm has no plans to move.

An application has been made to Reading Borough Council to convert the firm’s Greyfriars Road offices into 43 flats under Permitted Development Rights.

But chief executive Simon Perkins has told Thames Tap the application is simply good housekeeping to protect the site’s value and keep future options open.

He said McKay Securities has no plans to move in the meantime.

The application is to convert the building into 23 one bedroom, 19 two bedroom and one three-bedroom flats.
