Merton College Oxford has submitted outline plans for 540 homes, a 9,000 sq m care home, a 200 sq m community home work hub and two play areas.

The scheme, planned for a 59.3-hectare former farmland site at Rutten Lane, Yarnton, 6km north of Oxford, will also include space for playing pitches and amenities for William Fletcher Primary School and public open space.

Homes in the application to Cherwell District Council have an affordable allocation of 50 per cent.

The development is proposed across 25 hectares of the site which has been removed from the Green Belt to help meet Oxford’s unment housing need.

The team includes Gerald Eve as planner, Vectos and transport planner and Define as masterplanner.
