Plans for a care home in Ruscombe in Berkshire go before councillors on Wednesday (October 9) with a recommendation for approval.
Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee will discuss LNT Developments’ plans for a 66-bedroom care home on land to the west of New Road.
The developer is seeking to regenerate the site of a disused commercial nursery by demolishing 12 buildings for the two-storey scheme.
Although plans had been revised to accommodate concerns of Ruscombe Parish Council and Cllr Stephen Conway, Cllr Conway maintained his initial objection to it and insisted it is dealt with by committee, rather than delegated.
In a written submission, to bring the matter to committee, he said: “I am concerned at the proximity of the flanks of the proposed new building to existing neighbouring properties. The increased height as compared with the existing glasshouses will, together with the proposed fenestration, make the relationship to neighbouring dwellings obtrusive and overbearing.
“If the planning officer is minded to approve the application, I request that it comes to the planning committee for determination.”
