An additional 70 homes are being planned at one of Reading’s most controversial housing schemes.

Permission for 223 properties on a 12-hectare section of the former Reading Golf Club in Kidmore End Road was granted by Reading Borough Council to Fairfax in March 2023, despite 4,500 objections.

Vistry Homes is currently developing the site, now called Emmer Green Drive, but Fairfax has begun consulting on plans for the additional 70 properties on a neighbouring section north of the site, which falls within the South Oxfordshire district.

It plans a 25 per cent increase in biodiversity and a 40 per cent proportion of affordable homes on the new parcel of land.

Consultation is running at https://rgc.your-feedback.co.uk. Deadline for comments in April 13.
