A plan for 71 homes on land near Henley has been passed by South Oxfordshire District Council.

Thames Properties was given consent for the scheme of 51 houses and 20 flats on a 4.6-hectare site off Fairmile to the north west of Henley town centre, at SODC’s planning committee’s February 21 meeting.

The application for the SODC-owned site involves the demolition of Field Cottage and includes around 30 per cent of the site remaining open.

Simon Fruchter from Thames Properties told the meeting: “Our architects, based a short distance away in Watlington, recognised early on that the site required a unique and exemplar design approach.

“As well as a scheme that’s sensitively designed, we have also ensured longevity of the development through a range of sustainability measures such as energy efficiency, water efficiency, the use of sustainable construction have all been considered.”

The team on the project includes DP Architects and RPS on planning.
