Police, fire and ambulance station for Theale

Work will start in Spring on a combined police, fire and ambulance station in Theale which will also serve as a community centre.

The new ‘tri-service’ community station will be on former Network Rail land at Wigmore Lane, close to the A4 Bath Road with easy access to J12 of the M4.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS), Thames Valley Police (TVP) and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) will share the building which will have a training yard for emergency service teams and a community meeting room.

RBFRS agreed to go ahead with the building in December and says it will put emergency vehicles closer to the communities of Calcot, Thatcham and Theale, as well as the M4 and A4 corridors.

Angus Ross, who is a councillor in Wokingham borough and lead member for strategic assets for Royal Berkshire Fire Authority, said: “The inclusion of these facilities ensures that the station will be an asset and resource for local residents to make use of. This is just one example of RBFRS delivering on its commitment to put fire stations at the heart of the communities they serve.”

“Careful planning has ensured the plans will provide state of the art modern operational facilities for the blue light services as well as a community hub.”

Completion of the project is expected to be in Spring 2022.
