Plans have been submitted to redevelop a run down area of Aldershot town centre with 100 flats, 128 student units, flexible retail and public courtyards.
The Rushmoor Development Partnership (RDP), a joint venture between Rushmoor Borough Council and Hill Investment Partnerships, has revealed its plans for Union Street regeneration in a new planning application to redevelop a mostly-derelict 0.53-hectare site. RDP proposes:
- 100 one and two bedroom flats
- 128 units of student accommodation
- 100 podium parking spaces
- 2,237 sq m of flexible retail space
There will be an enclosed garden area for residents and two areas of public realm to be known as Union Yard and Makers’ Yard, with cafes and independent businesses surrounding landscaped courtyards.
Leader of the council, Cllr David Clifford, said: “The regeneration of Aldershot town centre is the council’s top priority. This scheme represents a significant investment by the council that will attract a widening audience and contribute to the local area, making it an even better place to work and live.
“We are confident that these plans will deliver positive change and help create a town that everyone in Aldershot can be proud of.”
