WSP has submitted a request for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) opinion regarding a proposed development at Stirling House, Cambridge Innovation Park North. The proposed plans include the creation of 90’000 sq ft of office floorspace alongside associated parking, landscaping, and infrastructure works.
As the development exceeds the 0.5-hectare threshold set by Schedule 2, part 10(a) of The Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017, the development is required to be screened for environmental repercussions.
However, an EIA Screening Request Report produced by WSP concludes that the proposed development does not constitute EIA development therefore does not require an EIA. It cites the large commercial development recently completed on the site and the fact that that development was also determined not to constitute EIA development therefore neither should WSP’s.
The screening opinion was submitted on 9th November 2020 and Cambridge City Council’s planning authority has 21 days to submit a response.
