CALA Homes North Home Counties has received planning approval for 238 homes and public open space in Kelvedon, Essex.
Permission was granted by Braintree District Council on 2nd Feb 2021. The site was formerly agricultural land and is located off Coggeshall Road.
The plans specify that the unit mix will include one- and two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom bungalows, and two- to five-bedroom houses. 40 percent of the properties will be affordable to meet local housing need, in a mix of shared ownership and rental tenures. Homes have been designed around informal green open space and will include a children’s play area.
CALA will also deliver two hectares of public open space including a walkway to the fringes of the development and an orchard, as well as swales and an ecological protection area. Through the s106 agreement, financial contributions will be made to a number of local facilities including a community building, outdoor leisure, play area, allotments, and education and healthcare provisions.
Phillip Wright, Head of Planning and Design at CALA Homes North Home Counties, said: “We are delighted to have received planning approval from Braintree District Council for our development at Kelvedon and are now looking forward to delivering a scheme that will not only provide much-needed homes in the local area but stunning areas of green open space for walking, playing and wildlife.”
“This development represents an ongoing investment by CALA in Essex, joining our current Audley Chase development in Earls Colne and upcoming scheme at Beaulieu. We look forward to starting construction work on-site in February 2021 with an aim to deliver the first homes next winter.”
