Plans have been submitted for a £36 million development at the world-famous Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons hotel and restaurant.

Proposals submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council, include works to the Grade II* Listed Manor House, minor extensions and alterations to the existing stables and staff buildings as well as new buildings within the grounds and new access from the A329.

Development of the venue in Church Road, Great Milton includes:

  • A new wellness spa
  • A new ‘Bistro Deluxe’
  • A new Raymond Blanc Academy
  • New garden villas and suites
  • New pavilions and storage barns

A separate application for listed building consent has also been submitted.

Design team on the project includes a number of well-known Thames Valley consultants including Lichfields, Purcell, Evoke and Ecology by Design.

Raymond Blanc said: “We need to enhance the hotel offer to establish Le Manoir as a ‘destination hotel’ worldwide, broadening its facilities and gastronomic offer.

“This reduces the business’ exposure to issues of succession planning and will increase profitability (and expenditure in the local area) by encouraging longer stays.

“The proposals for new development at Le Manoir are designed specifically to achieve these aims, whilst also providing an opportunity to improve the operational efficiency of the business by optimising the use and flow of space.

“The proposals are the culmination of a six-year process of development. They reflect my 36 years as a Great Milton resident and Le Manoir’s strong community ties and have been carefully considered with the aim of delivering a development that Great Milton can be proud of.”

Lichfields estimates the development will create more than 100 new jobs, boost visitor spend in the area by more than £6m and increase overnight hotel stays by over 25 per cent to more than 22,000 a year.
