Housebuilder Hill has been appointed development partner by Oxford City Council’s housing company for a scheme in Iffley.
Oxford City Housing Ltd (OCHL) plans at least 29 Passivhaus-standard homes on land at Meadow Lane which is earmarked for development in the Oxford Local Plan.
Twelve will be let at social rent and a further three will likely be shared ownership properties or another affordable tenure.
OCHL aims to submit a planning application by the end of the year and, if approved, construction will begin in 2022.
The site, made up of two plots, was acquired by OCHL from Donnington Hospital for £4.5 million in November. One of the plots, known as the Memorial Field, will be kept as open space.
The partnership is the second joint venture between Hill and OCHL. The housebuilder is currently building 237 homes in the first phase of Barton Park, now known as Mosaics, which include 95 OCHL homes let at social rent.
Rob Hall, deputy managing director for Hill, said: “We are pleased to have been selected by Oxford City Housing Ltd as the development partner for this exciting project in Iffley.
“This project represents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our expertise in building Passivhaus-standard homes in a thriving Oxford suburb.
The city is experiencing a great need for affordable homes and we look forward to developing detailed plans to provide new homes for the city which incorporate the very highest levels of sustainability.”
