The Caprice Group is to open Scott’s fish restaurant in Richmond after receiving approval to install eight internally illuminated canopies with SCOTT’S lettering on one.
The original proposals for the site on Whittaker Avenue, Richmond, included a glass conservatory to cover a terrace on the first floor. Following objections from prominent local groups and articles in The Times and The Telegraph, the application was withdrawn on March 3rd 2022.
The area known as Richmond Riverside is a conservation area, but the buildings are not listed. Richmond Riverside owes much of its neo-Georgian style to the architect Terry Quinlan who was commissioned to restore the site (1984–87).
Terry Quinlan, now 84, was one of the more notable objectors to the conservatory plans.
Hardens describe Richmond as the new mecca for restaurant openings, and the new Scott’s will not disappoint with a traditional offer mixed with ideas from Sexy Fish.
