All homes sold at 'climate positive' Springfield Meadows

All 25 properties at scheme, said to be the most sustainable housing projects in the UK, have now been sold.

Greencore Construction’s Springfield Meadows, a remarkable development of custom homes across an eight-acre plot in Southmoor near Oxford was winner of the Best Residential Scheme at last year’s OxPropFest Awards.

Built using the Biond construction system, the homes, all low carbon, high performance and energy efficient are all built to Passivhaus thermal performance standards.

Greencore says the homes are ‘climate positive’ by locking up more carbon than they emit and generate more energy than they use. Several incorporate sustainably sourced and treated Kebony wood. Nine are affordable homes.

Residents are offered bus vouchers to get to Abingdon and Oxford and an electric car club supplied by GRIDSERVE, allows them to hire out electric cars on an hourly or daily basis.

Other nature-focused amenities include a community orchard, wildflower meadow, herb garden and shared green spaces, in addition to generous private gardens. Plans for future sustainable developments are already in the works.
