New plans have been submitted for 360 student homes in the centre of Guildford.
Pavilion trustees and Pavilion Property trustees, as joint trustees of Eagle Property Unit Trust, have submitted an updated application to Guildford Borough Council for the site at Plot 5, Guildford Business Park after two previous refusals. The site is currently surface parking.
The seven-storey building is designed to be linked to a new footbridge to the University of Surrey which will go over the Wanborough railway line and which already has planning permission. In addition, a new planning application is currently in the system for the footbridge.
The building will have 69 studio apartments (including 14 for disabled people), 291 en-suite ‘cluster’ type rooms where living and kitchen areas are shared, and there will be secure entry into a double height arrival hall with 24-hour reception.
The latest proposals include upgraded sustainability: it is car free and there will be 182 cycle storage spaces. Amenities will include lounge areas, various study spaces, a gymnasium and multipurpose rooms, games rooms, cinema rooms and laundry room.
The team on the project includes Bell Cornwell on planning, Twelve Architects on architecture, RGP on Transport and Applied Ecology on BNG.
