Plans to replace a vacant retail and residential block in High Wycombe with 51 social housing flats have been submitted to Buckinghamshire Council.
Hightown Housing Association, via Arrow Planning, has applied to demolish three-storey, 1960s-built Collins House in Desborough Road, which has been vacant since 2011, and replace it with the new scheme of up to six storeys.
The 0.2-hectare site at the junction with Bridge Street is on the edge of the town centre and includes a former car park area.
The proposed scheme is for an L-shaped building with a rear courtyard for parking. It will comprise 27 one-bedroom flats and 24 with two bedrooms.
Two previous residential schemes for the site have previously been approved and the current scheme is a revised version of an earlier proposal which was withdrawn.
The proposal’s planning statement, produced by Arrow, states: “The proposals would create much-needed housing, meeting an identified need within the area, on a brownfield site in a highly sustainable location in accordance with the Development Plan.”
Along with Arrow Planning, the team includes Savills, Chandler Garvey and Yes Engineering.
