A car park in Deepcut has been sold to help pay Surrey Heath Borough Council’s debts.
The council’s executive approved the sale of 45-space Woodend Road Car Park as part of its ongoing requirement to reduce its debt and maintain long-term financial stability.
Contracts have now been exchanged with Broomhurst Group, with completion scheduled for end of January 2026.
A key condition of the sale is that the car park will remain available to the public until December 31, 2026.
A new free car park is under construction by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation next to St Barbara’s Church, just 290 yards from Woodend Road Car Park.
The new 60-space car park, which will be handed over to Surrey Heath Borough Council next year.
Cllr Kel Finan-Cooke, portfolio holder for property and economic development for Surrey Heath Borough Council, said: “It is great news that this sale is near completion and that the car park will stay open until at least December next year. This ensures throughout this transition, access to local amenities will be maintained without interruption.”
