Plans for up to 235 homes at Bracknell have been deferred after a four-hour debate by councillors.

Jordan Construction had applied to develop six fields of land used for agricultural and equine purposes, totalling 14.62 hectares at Hayley Green, north of Forest Road and officers had recommended approval.

However, after lengthy discussion at the January 15 meeting of Bracknell Forest Council’s planning committee, councillors voted by 11-0 with one abstention to defer a decision so that further discussion could take place with the applicant over access from Hayley Green and so that a possible call-in can proceed.

The call-in was requested by Warfield Parish Council which has claimed the application does not satisfy the policies of the neighbourhood plan.

The proposed scheme includes homes of up to four bedrooms, an affordable homes proportion of 35 per cent and 7.6 hectares of open space including a play area.

The team on the project includes Boyer on planning and masterplanning, HDA on arboriculture and ecology and Stantec on transport, drainage and utilities.
