Aberdeen has submitted a new 700-home outline application for its Forbury Retail Park redevelopment scheme in Reading.
The developer’s previous plan for King’s Meadow View, a development of 820 flats at the seven-hectare site, was disposed of by Reading Borough Council in November due to a lack of a lack of action from the applicant.
Aberdeen now plans up to 700 flats in 12 blocks of between five and 11 storeys with 3,000 sq m of retail at the ground floor, 130 basement level car parking spaces, up to 53 separate car parking spaces for the retail and 600 cycle parking spaces.
The application’s design and access statement states in its accessibility and social inclusion section: “The KMV OPA (King’s Meadow View outline planning application) will provide a safe, legible, high quality environment that will be easily used by as wide a range of people as possible without undue effort, special treatment or separation.
“The objective is to provide a high quality mixed use development that caters for a wide range of people and is designed to be inclusive for all users and visitors. It also confirms compliance of the proposals with relevant national, regional and local principles and policies.”
The team on the project includes Montagu Evans on planning, AVR London on architecture and Stantec.
