Housebuilder Dandara’s plans for 100 affordable homes in Cheltenham are open for consultation.

The 100 per cent affordable tenure scheme is proposed on vacant land south of Badgeworth Road to the west of the town.

Dandara has developed the £20.5m scheme in consultation with an undisclosed local registered provider, which will manage the houses upon completion.

According to the design and access statement, prepared by Roberts Limbrick,: “The land comprises former agricultural fields at the transition from a highly developed urban area of Cheltenham to the semi-rural character setting to the west.

“It is bordered by a scrapyard and housing to the north and west, with a mix of commercial development, retail and residential neighbourhoods situated to the south and east.”

The proposals include publicly accessible green space across the 3.7ha site, including play areas, a new footpath link to the wider countryside and areas of habitat creation.

A new footway would also be provided along Badgeworth Road, providing safe access for occupiers and nearby residents to Cheltenham.

It is expected that 50 per cent of the homes will be provided as social rent and 50 per cent as shared ownership.

The development will include a range of one, two, three and four bed homes.

Consultation on the scheme is open until March 2.
