Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has earmarked £18.76 million over the past three years to support 67 infrastructure projects across the borough, funded through the strategic element of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

The programme covers schools, roads, play areas, sports facilities, community buildings and environmental improvements. Since March 2023, £8.5 million has already been transferred to 31 projects, with 21 completed and four more underway.

Recent allocations include £750,000 to secure the future of the 2nd Reigate (Earlswood) Scout Group site, £990,000 for the Lucy Rayner Foundation’s wellbeing centre at Meath Green Barns in Horley, £1.87 million for road and junction improvements on the A23 Horley Road, and £162,000 for accessible play equipment in Memorial Park, Redhill.

A further proposal may support resurfacing the athletics track at Battlebridge Recreation Ground in Merstham.

Another £10.8 million remains available for projects until March 2027, although Local Government Reorganisation means current SIP allocations will end a year earlier than planned.

Councillor Kate Fairhurst said CIL has played a major role in delivering vital infrastructure, while community leaders welcomed the funding as securing long-term benefits for young people, mental health support and local facilities.
