Real Bedford FC, the non-league football club, has unveiled plans to build a new stadium and sports campus on land at the International Athletics Stadium on Barkers Lane.

The club currently plays at McMullen Park in Cardington which is near Bedford Town. Real Bedford FC is in the Southern League Division One Central.

The plans are at an early stage and no proposals have been agreed with Bedford Borough Council. Although, it is understood that the club has been seeking a new stadium for a number of years.

Whilst funding for the project is currently unclear, £3.5 million worth of Bitcoin was invested into the club in February 2025 by Gemini founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. Some commentators estimate that the scheme could represent a £50m-60m investment in Bedford and its local sports.
