Vistry Group has made significant progress on The Landings at Ford Airfield, since Arun District Council approved the first three Reserved Matters applications for the site.
This allows work to move ahead on 698 new homes, along with roads, green spaces and key infrastructure. The approvals cover RM1 in the north with 341 mixed-tenure homes, RM4 in the south with 357 mixed-tenure homes, and the Infrastructure Reserved Matters, which includes the primary spine road, pedestrian and cycle links, drainage systems, new bus stops and ecological enhancements.
Alongside planning progress, Vistry has also advanced site preparation and enabling works. Planning conditions have been discharged, including approval for the construction management plan, tree protection measures and investigation schemes, enabling a temporary haul road to be created. Archaeological work is continuing, and footpaths 363 and 366 remain temporarily closed where necessary.
Most notably for local access, a new temporary diversion for PROW 175 has now opened on the southern end of the site. This route links Rollaston Park to Horsemere Green Lane via the runway and Ford Airfield market, helping maintain public access while construction continues.
Vistry says it will keep the community informed as work progresses toward the wider vision of around 1,500 homes, a primary school, care home, local centre and new green spaces.
