An application for construction of a new Aldi store, a Costa drive-thru, and car parking will be heard at tomorrows Cotswold District Council planning committee meeting, with a prior officer recommendation for approval.

The proposal is for vacant land at the Bourton Industrial Park, in Bourton-on-the-Water, and is off of the A429.

Currently the site is allocated for employment development as part of the Cotswold Local Plan, with an outline planning application seeking this having seen approval in 2018.

It is estimated that the Aldi store would create approximately 40 full and part-time jobs, with the Costa alongside this creating approximately 20 roles.

To support the stores, 127 new car parking spaces are proposed, and a new signalised junction for the Fosse Way and Meadow way junction would be implemented.

Officer recommendation

The application currently has a recommendation to permit subject to completion of a S106 agreement, which would cover BNG delivery and the issuing of a Great Crested Newt District Licence.
