Brent Council’s Cabinet has approved plans to appoint Ballymore Limited to help deliver the remaining stages of South Kilburn’s regeneration, marking a major step forward for the long-running programme.

The scheme has already delivered, or has under construction, 1,954 homes, including 1,239 social rent homes, representing 63 per cent of the total. So far, 933 council tenants have moved into new homes through the regeneration. Over the next 10 to 15 years, more than 1,600 additional homes are planned, alongside improvements to parks, public spaces and community facilities.

Councillor Matt Kelcher, cabinet member for regeneration and planning, said the partnership would help deliver the final phases more quickly while keeping residents at the centre of the plans. He described South Kilburn as one of Brent’s most important projects, saying it is providing modern, energy-efficient homes and helping to create a new community with a wide range of facilities. After speaking with residents, he said the council’s aim matches local priorities: a neighbourhood with good-quality homes, welcoming public spaces and opportunities for local people.

The council says it has already made significant improvements across South Kilburn, including a medical centre, pharmacy, affordable workspaces, new public spaces and children’s play areas. A new community hub is also under construction at the Granville and Carlton Centres and will include a nursery, family wellbeing centre, community halls, a café, and space for local businesses and organisations.
