Croudace Homes has won an appeal to build 344 homes in Shenfield, Essex.
The housebuilder’s full planning application to Brentwood Borough Council in September 2023 to develop a site, known as Officers’ Meadow to the north of Shenfield, was rejected by the authority.
Croudace appealed in November 2024 and the planning inspector upheld the appeal on May 1.
The development, which sits within a landscape of woodlands and trees, will also have a large park, a variety of open spaces and play areas, a central plaza, a site allocated for a local primary school and nursery and a network of walking and cycling routes Croudace aims to achieve a minimum biodiversity net gain of 24 per cent.
Ben Yallop, land director (North) for Croudace said: “We are incredibly pleased to have received a positive outcome for the planning appeal at our new site in Shenfield, Essex.
“The scheme will deliver 344 high quality, energy efficient homes including 121 affordable units as well as land for a primary school and will also offer ancient woodland, a veteran tree as well as local playing areas.
“This site will not only deliver a vast offering of affordable homes for local people but will help enhance the wider local area through investment in local infrastructure and education. With planning now granted, we look forward to starting work on site and launching the first homes for sale in 2026.”
