The Hammersmith and Fulham Planning Committee has approved a redevelopment project at 316 Wandsworth Bridge Road, London, proposed by Hawkshead Limited.

The project involves constructing a four-storey mixed-use building with commercial space on part of the ground floor and nine residential units on the upper floors. The development aims to enhance the local area with high-quality homes and adequate amenity spaces, including private balconies, terraces, and winter gardens that exceed London Plan standards.

A terraced house will complete the Hugon Road aspect. The proposal addresses previous planning application issues and appeal commentary, with a focus on improving amenity in three-bedroom units.

During discussions, Councillor Alex Karmel introduced a condition to prevent converting the commercial unit into residential units without planning permission, ensuring the scheme’s cumulative impact is considered. This condition was seconded by Councillor Adrian Pascu-Tulbure and passed with five votes in favour and two against.

The Committee unanimously approved the officer recommendations for the project, as amended by the Addendum and the committee’s input. This decision supports the creation of a mixed-use development that positively contributes to the area’s character while maintaining control over future changes to the commercial space.
