Controversial plans for 70 homes on the edge of Emmer Green have been recommended for approval.
South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning committee’s December 3 meeting will discuss plans by Fairfax and Reading Golf Club for the homes on part of the South Oxfordshire section of the club’s former golf course.
The proposal, which includes a 40 per cent proportion of affordable homes, has attracted 144 objections.
A scheme of 223 homes on the Reading section of the site is currently under construction and the latest scheme is the first application for homes on the remaining section of the site which is within South Oxfordshire.
Reading Borough Council is demanding cash from the developer for a number of infrastructure improvements including £150,000 towards improvements to the ‘Last Crumb’ junction where Peppard Road, Henley Road, Westfield Road and Prospect Street meet, in order for the authorty to support the scheme.
The scheme’s transport assessment estimates that the proposed development will add 19 two-way vehicle trips in the morning peak hour and 20 two-way vehicle trips in the afternoon peak hour to the junction which Reading Borough Council says is already at capacity.
