Plans to redevelop Maidenhead Office Park into an industrial park have been unanimously approved.

Ascot House Maidenhead’s proposals to demolish seven buildings at the site in Westacott Way and build 11 industrial and logistics buildings were unanimously approved by the Royal Borough’s Maidenhead development management committee on September 18.

The 42,541 sq m scheme is a 23 per cent reduction in floorspace on that of a previous plan which was thrown out by the council and at a subsequent appeal.

A total 426 parking spaces and 94 electric vehicle chargers are to be provided at the site, as well as parking for 132 bikes. More than 650 jobs will be created.

Residents and councillors raised concerns over traffic but planning consultant Mark Harris, speaking for the applicant, said the latest plans are ‘an important step forward’ compared to the previous scheme.

He went on: “This has led to support from some parish councils in recognition that we’ve now struck the right balance.

“The park continues to experience high levels of prolonged vacancy, which will not change. A site that can provide hundreds of jobs is currently providing less than 100. It’s clearly underutilised.”
