The Oxfordshire development site has been highlighted as a potential home for future Formula 1  innovation, electrical systems are becoming more integral to powering F1 engines, and the Arc could be the hub for the engineering firms R&D.

Vehicles will become more streamlined as the reliance on electrical systems for engine power grows, and specialist engineering will be required to achieve this. Since Bicester Arc’s 48-acre site will be home to bespoke laboratory and manufacturing accommodation, it is being considered as a strong candidate for F1 developments.

The site is being developed by Sladen Estates, and Perivil Securities, with aims to offer spaces from 10,000 to 600,000 sq. ft, and will look to accommodate motorsport suppliers, EV specialists, and established engineering firms.

Bicester Arcs’ site will sit within Motorsport Valley, the Oxfordshire-based cluster of high-tech motorsport businesses, making the location even more suitable, as connectivity is a key demand for an F1 R&D site.

Chris White, representative of Bicester Arc, and expert property consultant, said “Formula 1 has always acted as a proving ground for future mobility and energy technologies. The regions and developments that invest early in the right commercial infrastructure will be best placed to capture the long-term economic and technological benefits of this next era”.

He also said of the 2026 Formula 1 regulations “their real impact will be felt behind the scenes- in the facilities, infrastructure and locations that support elite engineering and innovation”.
