Bidwells have completed a major development land sale on behalf of landowners The Crown Estate and Europa Capital (advised by St Congar Land) of an 85-acre portion of a site to Taylor Wimpey in Overstone, Northampton.
The site has planning consent for 700 homes and forms part of the 2,000-unit Northampton North Sustainable Urban Extension. The sale comes as the third transaction of the land and finalises the sale of the plot as a whole, with the rest of the site sold to BDW trading in 2016 and 2018, after planning consent was obtained in 2015.
The early phases of the development have now started, and a new primary school and a local centre are being delivered as part of the proposals. The major highways around the site have already been improved, with the A43 Moulton bypass dual carriageway being fully opened in 2020.
Partner of residential development at Bidwells, Andrew Haynes, said: “We’re delighted to have completed this sale for Europa Capital and the Crown Estate and look forward to seeing these much-needed new homes coming out of the ground. The land market across the Oxford-Cambridge Arc continues to be very active as housebuilders respond to the surge in consumer demand over recent months.”
The first homes of the development are scheduled for 2022.
