Blenheim Estate Homes has released four new properties at its Park View development specifically for shared ownership.

Two styles of property are available at the development in Woodstock, the Jennings (pictured below) and the Drake (pictured above). They are available on the basis that the buyers will acquire a 40 per cent ownership.

The homes, which were given the names from the first Duke of Marlborough’s wife and mother’s respective surnames, are:

  • Plot 234 – a two-bedroom end terrace house.  One allocated car parking space. Key feature – an additional study room upstairs.
  • Plot 235 – a two-bedroom mid-terrace house. One allocated car parking space. Key feature – an additional study room upstairs.
  • Plot 238 – a three-bedroom detached house. Driveway with space for two cars.
  • Plot 239 – a three-bedroom detached house. Driveway with space for two cars.

Rebecca Wakefield, housing officer for Blenheim Estate Homes, said: “Our shared ownership scheme is a wonderful opportunity to not only get onto the property ladder, but become part of the fantastic community at Park View, and to create a forever home in special surroundings.”

To qualify for the shared ownership scheme, prospective buyers need to:

  • Have a household income of less than £80,000 per year.
  • Prove that they cannot afford to buy a home on the open market.
  • Have access to approximately £3,000 to cover legal fees, plus savings towards mortgage and deposit. Buyers must be assessed as being able to afford and sustain shared ownership.

In addition, existing shared owners or homeowners must be at the sale agreed stage before they can reserve, and applications from homeowners will also require approval from both West Oxford District Council and Blenheim Estate Homes before being able to proceed.

Prospective buyers also need to prove a local connection to the area by satisfying one of the following:

  • Be currently living in the parishes of Woodstock, Hanborough, Bladon, Blenheim, Combe, Freeland, Wootton or Tackley and having done so for 12 months or more.
  • Have previously lived in one of those parishes for at least three years.
  • Be employed in one of the parishes and have been for at least 12 months.
  • Have a close family member resident in one of the parishes who has been a resident for at least three years.
  • Be a key worker currently living in or being moved into one of these parishes for the purpose of work.
