Brent Council Planning Committee has controversially approved the demolition of existing buildings and a seven-storey replacement at Sevenex Parade in Wembley by four votes to three.

The proposal is to demolish existing buildings and erect a six—and part seven-storey basement level comprising residential flats, a ground-floor commercial unit, associated communal space, landscaping, and cycle and refuse storage.

Residents nearby raised objections about the loss of light for nearby flats, and some committee members supported this view.

The development, a point of contention, notably lacks affordable housing. It comprises twenty one-bedroom homes, nine two-bedroom and twelve three-bedroom homes, which raised concerns among councillors.

The officers had allowed the lack of affordable housing because it would make the development unviable.

The developer is Daejan Investments Ltd.
