The Caterham, Chaldon, and Whyteleafe Neighbourhood Plan (CCWNP) has been released by Tandridge District Council, initiating a six-week consultation period ending at 11:59 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2025. View the plan online.
The updated CCWNP, initially approved in a May 2021 referendum, has been revised by the Implementation Group, which includes members from Caterham Hill, Caterham Valley, Chaldon, and Whyteleafe parish and village councils. This consultation focuses on the revised plan.
According to Neighbourhood Planning Regulations, the plan was submitted to Tandridge District Council by the parish councils. Post-consultation, it will be reviewed by an independent examiner. If approved, a public referendum will be held next year.
The plan aims to guide the development of the four parishes and influence planning application decisions. Key proposals include:
- Delivering housing to meet local needs.
- Ensuring the sewerage and wastewater network can handle new developments.
- Reducing flood risk with suitable drainage in new developments.
- Maximising the use of allocated sites and brownfield land.
- Supporting businesses, retail centres, and community facilities.
- Enhancing walking, cycling, and bus travel options.
- Safeguarding green spaces, key views, and the Green Belt.
- Protecting and enhancing the area’s character.
The plan is accessible online, at the Council Offices in Oxted, and at Caterham on the Hill and Caterham Valley libraries.
