Plans for 67 new affordable homes for Norwich took a step forward after detailed plans for the development emerged at a cabinet meeting of the city council.
Councillors at the cabinet’s April 2 meeting heard how a vital £2.4m contract to create a new access road to the Mile Cross site where the homes will be built, along with other essential infrastructure, needs to be in place before the build phase can begin later this year.
Work on the consented 67 new homes, which will be brought forward directly by the city council’s housing delivery team, can now move ahead at pace. Contractual work on the infrastructure will allow the design and construction of the homes to follow on as quickly as possible.
A spokesperson for Norwich City Council said: “The council’s ambition has always been to provide city residents with affordable, high-quality and energy-efficient homes.
“This latest investment underscores our commitment to help tackle the housing shortage and create homes that meet modern needs and strengthen communities.”
