Pennyfarthing Homes has purchased the former Ringwood Brewery to redevelop into its new headquarters.
Located on the Hampshire-Dorset border and within walking distance of Ringwood town centre, the 1.88-acre site was put up for sale two years ago by Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company, which this year became Carlsberg Britvic.
Pennyfarthing Homes also completed the sub-sale of two warehouses on the site to Brighter Productions, an event production company.
The move for the Hampshire-based housebuilder comes as it expands its operations, having outgrown its current office in New Milton.
It is anticipated that work will commence on the brewery in 2026, with the two businesses relocating following completion of the works.
The proposed scheme will include office spaces with ancillary storage and warehousing.
The former brewery was purchased for an undisclosed sum.
Mark Adams, executive chairman at Pennyfarthing Homes, said: “We are proud to be breathing new life into an iconic local site that has been underutilised for several years.
“This redevelopment will not only provide Pennyfarthing with a new base that reflects our ambitions for the future, but it will also bring new jobs and energy to the local area.
“Ringwood is a thriving town in a prime location, and we look forward to being part of its future.”
Sean Tomkins, commercial director from Brighter Productions, added: “We are thrilled to be moving into such a unique and characterful location.
“This new headquarters will give us the space and facilities we need to continue growing our business, while keeping us firmly rooted in the local area.
“Pennyfarthing’s vision for the redevelopment is inspiring, and we are excited to be part of the next chapter for this site.”
David Bodily, property and facilities director at Carlsberg Britvic, said: “Ringwood Brewery has long been a part of the town’s history, and we are pleased that the site’s legacy can continue through this redevelopment by a local, family-owned and well-established business.
“We welcome Pennyfarthing’s plans to revitalise the site so that it contributes positively to the community and wish them every success as the site’s new owners.”
Bryony Thompson of Vail Williams acted for Pennyfarthing Homes, introducing Brighter Productions in an off-market deal.
