A developer planning a Premier Inn at Henley Station, which was refused by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC), has gone to appeal.
Blocwork, a joint venture between Network Rail and Bloc Group, applied to build the 115-room hotel in the station car park in December 2020. It was opposed by Henley Town Council and was eventually refused by SODC in July 2022, largely on the grounds of bulk and massing and heritage.
The 1.6-hectare site would take up 50 of the car park’s 249 spaces although an additional 12 would be created by removal of a coach drop off point.
Now Blocwork has appealed and asked for an informal hearing.
Hundreds had lodged objections to the scheme.
